Scientific paper

On 16 February 1999 there was an annular eclipse of the Sun. This was rather special, since the the Moon appeared rather large (0.99277%). This means a very short duration of annularity (40 seconds) and consequently also a very thin ring. The Moon's profile reveals itself more, and you are able to better observe and follow Baily's beads. This eclipse was only visible in Australia.
