We present a systematical search for point source and diffuse emission components in three edge-on spiral galaxies: NGC 4565, NGC 4656, and NGC 5907. The targets were selected for low galactic foreground absorption. Point sources are detected in the disk of the galaxies with luminosities of 1.3 to 15 x 1038 erg/s. In addition nuclear X-ray emission is closely correlated with radio emission. X-ray luminosities of the nuclear regions of NGC 4565 and NGC 5907 are 2.7 and 2.8 x 1039 erg/s, respectively, whereas the nucleus of NGC 4656 only reaches 1.3 x 1038 erg/s. In NGC 4656 X-ray emission follows the disturbed shape of the galaxy. In the halo of NGC 4565 we detect diffuse emission with a luminosity of (2.6 +/- 0.3) x 1039 erg/s. Neither in the halo of NGC 4656 nor of NGC 5907 diffuse emission could be established.
