The subject of the study is the measurement and interpretation of directional reflection properties of a planetary surface taking the moon as an example. The primary goal is the development of measurement and analysis methods for spectrophotometric data in order to investigate the plausibility of existing photometric models. The experimental tasks include astronomical observations carried out with a CCD-camera and concentrated on the areas of Fra Mauro and Copernicus. This data base is used to derive parameters of the photometric functions of Hapke and Lumme-Bowell for several surface points within each area and the validity of geological interpretation of these parameters is investigated. For the model of Hapke the parameters are determined for every resolved point within each area in order to produce thematic parameter maps. These maps together with spectral information serves as the basis for geoscientific analyses of the state and the structure of the surface for each of the areas investigated.
