The statistical properties of the Algol-like light variations of the evolutionarily young variables WW Vul, RZ Psc, and SV Cep are analysed. These variations are thought to be caused by circumstellar dust clouds. The properties of the clouds derived from the light variations are confronted with the requirements of their mechanical stability. The clouds have to contain asteroid-sized bodies or move on highly elongated elliptical orbits in order to make the different aspects of the cloudy-envelope model compatible.
