A statistical analysis of the QSO X-ray luminosity function (XLF), which uses a sample of 42 faint ROSAT QSOs, is carried out in order to derive new estimates of the QSO XLF and its evolution with redshift. From a detailed analysis of this sample combined with the EMSS survey, it is found that a power-law evolution model can provide an adequate fit to the combined data set. However, for qO = 0.0, steeper slopes and a faster rate of evolution are derived for the XLF than those found from the analysis of the EMSS set alone. Possible reasons for the discrepancy are examined.
