The paper considers a collisionless model of the unsteady solar wind, with allowance for the supersonic character of the flow. A zero small-parameter approximation (the small parameter being the inverse of the Mach number) is used to qualitatively describe the evolution of unsteady disturbances. This approximation takes into account the basic factor of the evolution: the supersonic radial expansion of the plasma. The model is applied to Pioneer-11 data on solar-wind velocity, density, and temperature.
