A theoretical analysis of the amount of time needed to colonize other galaxies is presented, and two theories regarding galaxy colonization are presented. The first theory is that our solar system has already been colonized, and the second is that we are one of the few advanced civilizations in our galaxy. It is stated that the critical test is to search for extraterrestrial habitats in this solar system, particularly in the asteroid belt. The belt is composed of more than 2,000 asteroids, the largest being Ceres, with a diameter of approximately 1,000 km. The fact that 400,000 objects more than a kilometer in diameter exist within the belt implies that space colonies could have escaped optical detection, and recent studies indicate a substantial diversity in chemical composition. The need to initiate a search for extraterrestrial colonies is stressed.
