Calculations of the polarization characteristics of the radiation from a quasi-steady pulsar magnetosphere are presented using the amplitude-modulated-noise interpretation of the data on pulse structures. Results show that the total emission consists of three incoherently mixed and completely polarized radiation streams, two of which are elliptically polarized (modes I and II) and one which is linearly polarized (mode III). The position angles of modes I and II are orthogonal and those of modes I and III are coincident in the regime where the length scale of the radial distribution of the electric current density is appreciably longer than the wavelength of the radiation, although the sense of circular polarization of modes I and II are generally uncorrelated. Longitudinal changes in the position angle and in the sense of circular polarization of each of the elliptically polarized modes, as well as the mode transitions, are found to arise in a narrow emitting region adjacent to the light cylinder.
