An analysis of observations of RY Sgr made between 1926 and 1978 shows the pulsation period to have decreased steadily during that time. The occurrence of pulsational minima can be well represented by a period which decreases at a rate of 0.0005 day/cycle, a value in good agreement with theoretical models for the evolution of a hydrogen-deficient carbon star.
