The spatial and temporal distribution of high-latitude irregularities responsible for spread-F are studied using oblique incidence sounding data obtained in the Soviet Arctic sector. The dependence of the occurrence probability of spread-F on geomagnetic activity and on the season is examined. It is shown that the spatial distribution of spread-F is essentially connected with large-scale features of the polar ionosphere such as the main and the high-latitude troughs.
