Emission from the optical multiplets of Fe II is found in the optical spectra of four radio-quiet QSOs examined with an image-dissector scanner. This finding contrasts with the Phillios (1977, 1978) study, which indicated that Fe II emission is not a general feature of QSOs which are strong radio sources. The similarity between Seyfert 1 galaxies and radio-quiet QSOs with respect to their optical spectra suggests that the latter may be more distant examples of the former, rather than distinct phenomena. The differences between radio-quiet and radio-source objects may, moreover, be more fundamental than the differences between QSOs and broad-line emission galaxies.
