Vapor pressures and the mode of evaporation of forsterite and fayalite
and the low-pressure phase relations of the olivine solid solution
system were studied using the Knudsen method. The results are applied to
evaluate the genetic relationships among type IA chondrules, type II
chondrules, and matrix olivine of chondrites.
