We present rotation periods for a sample of late-type stars in the 30Myr-old open cluster IC2602. 32 G, K and M type stars have been monitored photometrically using the CTIO 0.9m telescope in March/April/May 1995 to detect rotational modulation due to starspots. The G/K/M members in this survey were recently identified in an X-ray survey of the IC2602 region by ROSAT (Randich et al 1995). The rotation periods thus obtained are compared with the available spectroscopic vsini determinations from the study by Stauffer et al (1995). They are also compared to theoretical calculations of the early rotational evolution of solar-type stars with a view towards elucidating angular momentum loss on the pre-main sequence.
