The acquisition of information on the projection angle of double radio sources in the plane of the sky is demonstrated using the component size/largest angular size ratio, under the hypothesis that it is a characteristic parameter without significant dispersion. Face-on values are used to make a new analysis of the H-beta line width-linear size and largest angular size-redshift relations. A strong correlation is found between the H-beta half width at quarter maximum and the face-on linear sizes for double radio quasars, whose zero point coincides with compact sources. The largest angular size-redshift diagram is shown to be in agreement with certain Friedmann model predictions, after allowing for a previously unnoticed correction factor called for by the fact that the size of radio sources cannot be considered in the terms of a rigid rod.
