The results of photometric observations of HD 153919, obtained during six nights when the orbital phase of the systems was between 0.4 and 0.6, are presented. These data show brightness variations of less than or equal to 1%, on a time scale of hours, during some of these nights, but there is no evidence for the general presence of optical pulsations at a period near approximately 1.5 h (approximately 1% modulation) previously reported by Kruszewski et al. (1979). The observed short-term brightness variations cannot be explained as the result of X-ray heating. A variable contribution due to cyclotron emission, similar to what is observed in AM Her systems, is also negligible. It is concluded that the observed optical brightness variations are probably the result of dynamic processes in the envelope of HD 153919
