A set of observations of Jupiter with the GHRS Side 1, if available, will be used to investigate the processes responsible for the molecular hydrogen emission in the Jovian equatorial atmosphere. The observations will span a complete Jovian rotation to determine if there is a correlation with the "Lyman-alpha bulge". As they will be made at a time close to solar minimum, it will be possible to determine, by comparison with data from both Voyager and the Hopkins Ultraviolet Telescope (at solar maximum), if these emissions are controlled by the solar EUV flux as has been hypothesized.
