We plan to observe the unique QSO HS 1700+6416 with the HRS with the LSA in low resolution in the range 1150 to 1650 A, where useful spectra are not yet available, with the aim to detect further EUV quasar absorption lines: NeIII 489, NeIV 543, NeV 568, 480, CIII 386, NIII 374, Mg VI 402 in several high z Lyman limit systems (LLS). We expect an enhanced neon abundance Ne/C ~= O/C ~= 0.5 if the composition is extreme Halo like and originates in SN II. We further wish to measure OIV 608, OV 629, NIV 765, CIII 977 in the LLSs z = 0.8642 and 1.1572 in order to determine O/C and N/C abundance ratios for a comparison with values obtained already for high redshift systems like z=2.433, 2.1678, 1.8465. Finally, we want to detect HeI 584 in the LLSs z = 1.1572, 1.8464 and 1.725.
