R136 is the bright central object of the 30 Doradus nebula. HST images with WFPC and FOC have resolved it into a tight cluster of several dozen stars, whose brightness and colors imply hot, massive, early type stars. This proposals defines GHRS UV spectra of the two brightest members. It is to be performed during cycle 4, with COSTAR in place, and assuming that side 1 of the GHRS is reactivated. Grating G140L will be used to record 1200 - 1760 A with a S/N=30 in the continuum. The small science aperture will be used to ensure spatial isolation of the components. submitted for cycle 4 catalog February 15, 1993 updated for cycle 4 phase 2 May 11, 1993 revised to delete R136A4 May 25, 1993 target acq revised April 27, 1994
