A systematic study of the influence of various line and model parameters on line profiles in Supernova (SN) photospheres is carried out in this paper. We calculate model atmospheres for SNe II in the phase of free expansion, using an artificial line list with synthetic Al III lines at 5 wavelengths from the UV to the optical wavelength range. The variation of individual model and line parameters like density exponent, expansion velocity, line strength and rest wavelength allows us to demonstrate their influence on the line profiles. We find that the line strengths and profiles depend on the parameters in a complicated way and that this makes the determination of SN parameters from observed spectra very difficult.
