Radcliffe 136 (R136; HD 38268) is the central object of the giant H ii region, 30 Doradus, in the Large Magellanic Cloud. At the core of R136 is a dense star cluster, called R136a, which contains a number of luminous, hot stars thought to be only three million years old. We plan to obtain HST/FOS spectra of the 16 brightest stars in R136a in December 1995, and to get HST/GHRS spectra, in February 1996. The FOS spectra will cover the wavelength range, 3200-6700 Angstroms, while the GHRS spectra will span the range, 1200-1700 Angstroms. Our long-term plan is to use these observations to construct the first empirical isochrone of a young star cluster containing very massive stars. We will then use the isochrone to test evolutionary scenarios for massive stars. At the meeting, we will present the FOS spectra and will examine the correlation of spectral characteristics with metallicity of the LMC and with initial stellar mass and luminosity.
