Consideration is given to the brightness variability of the red supergiant that was discovered in M 31 by Rich et al. (1989). It is found that in 1988 the star remained bright (B = 18.2-18.5 mag) for at least three months. The variability of the source between 1967 and 1989 is examined, showing another period of brightening in 1968. The full amplitude of the variation in blue light is at least 4.5 mag.
