Studies of the fine structure of QSS 3C 345 show that the brightness of compact components at low frequencies is T_{b}≤ 10^{12} K. The core, i.e., the nozzle and jet, consists of a stream of relativistic plasma surrounded by a thermal plasma like a cocoon wall. The wall absorbs synchrotron radio emission in continuum and recombination lines. The absorption in lines H(78-79)α is measured. The ratio of the line to continuum emission is 0.3%, the line width is Δ ν = 5.3 MHz, and the frequency difference corresponds to Δ z=0.0013.
