At this meeting to celebrate Jack Welch's academic retirement, I'd like to review some of the contributions to radio astronomy made by Jack and his graduate students at UC Berkeley. While Jack's scientific and technical accomplishments are well known, perhaps less appreciated is his skill at mentoring students and producing world-class scientists. Since much of this activity took place at the Hat Creek Radio Observatory (HCRO), I will take you on a tour of developments at HCRO over the past five decades and acquaint you with Jack's many excellent graduate students along the way.
