We discuss chromospheric modeling -- both semi-empirical models and theoretical models. The development of new computational schemes, new approximate treatments of time dependent hydrogen ionization and more powerful computers have paved the way for comprehensive models in three dimensions extending from the convection zone to the corona. The first results of such models have just appeared.
