The results of numerical integrations, based on the orbit of P/Shoemaker-Levy 9 available June 1993, have definitely shown that many, if not all, of the fragments of the comet will collide with Jupiter in July 1994. This paper, written at the time of the Belgirate ACM '93 Meeting, should be regarded as of historical importance: many more observations have been made since then, and are being made at present, making the numerical computations reported here quite obsolete. The comet fragments are now under continuous surveillance.
