We describe the X-ray properties of high redshift, starforming galaxies in the Chandra deep fields. We concentrate on the X-ray emission of a large sample of z=3 Lyman Break and z=1 Balmer Break galaxies in the HDF-North. Individual detections give a measure of the bright AGN fraction in these galaxies, and the properties of the remainder are determined by stacking. The results can be used to constrain the cosmic star formation history from an X-ray perspective, and the relative contributions of accretion and starforming processes to the luminosity density as a function of cosmic time. This work is supported by a NASA/CXC grant for Archival Research with the Chandra Deepest Fields.
