Recent spectrographic observations with the Steward Observatory 2.4m telescope in March and May of this year have revealed the Hamburg-Schmidt Objective Prism Survey Object HS1136+6646 to be a bright Pre-CV system. HS1136+466 consists of an very hot DAO white dwarf and a K6 dwarf in a 1 day orbit binary orbit. The system shows a very pronounced reflection effect with strong emission lines from H I and He I as well as Mg II and Ca II. HS1136+6646 is a double line spectroscopic binary with K velocities of 130 km/s. Near inferior conjunction, the emission lines from the secondary disappear, indicating a relatively low orbital inclination. The white dwarf is difficult to study in the optical due to contamination from the continuum of the secondary, however, FUV observations obtained with FUSE show it to have an effective temperature of 100,000 K. The extremely high temperature of the degenerate star is consistent with post-common envelope (CE) system having a very young age of 105 yrs. HS1136+6646 is relatively bright and easy to study and further spectroscopic and photometric followup observations are planned.
