Compilation of the MSX PSC Version 2 is underway, with a planned release of the catalog in early 2002. Version 2 supercedes PSC Version 1.2 which was released in June 1999. In addition to the Galactic Plane, Areas missed by IRAS, and Large Magellanic Cloud, which were included in the Ver. 1.2 release, Version 2 includes the point source catalogs for all of the `selected areas' imaged by MSX. The reprocessing technique improved the extraction of sources in high source density and background regions, resulting in the source densities of ~1000 sources per square degree, as opposed to ~500 per square degree extracted in Version 1.2. Version 2 also improves the multi-color content of the MSX PSC by extracting MSX Band C, D, and E (12.13, 14.65 and 21.34 μ m) irradiances from the co-added image plates. This results in a factor of > 2 increase in sensitivity in these bands. In addition to the Galactic Plane and Areas missed by IRAS, Version 2 of the MSX PSC includes the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, molecular clouds, and star forming regions such as Orion, Taurus, and the Rosette nebula, and others. The complete coverage area of the MSX experiments and the MSX PSC Ver. 2 can be seen in Figure 3 of Price et al. 2001 (AJ, 121, 2819).
