Several low-mass stellar models with an inhomogeneous radiative core and a convective envelope are investigated, treating the entire core or its upper portion as a zone of natural stability. A numerical analysis based on the premise that the opacity and the energy release are given by a certain expression is presented. It is concluded that mixing by convective overshoot will give rise to unstable structures. In the context of one model, it si argued that intensive large-scale motions might be excited repeatedly and cyclically. These motions, reinforced by a magnetic field, could even be responsible for the solar cycle.
