Clusters containing dark matter as well as visible galaxies may undergo significant evolution over a Hubble time as the galaxies and the dark matter attempt to reach equipartition. As the cluster evolves, mass segregation occurs, causing virial mass measurements to underestimate the total cluster mass. A simple theory of cluster evolution is used to evaluate this effect. It sucessfully accounts for the observed correlations between virial M/L ratios and other cluster parameters.
