We present mid-infrared imaging and spectroscopy of the disk around the canonical infrared excess star β Pictoris obtained with the Long Wavelength Spectrometer at the W. M. Keck Observatory. The disk around this ~12 Myr old star is well resolved at both 11.7 and 17.9 μ m, extending at least 5'' from star on both sides. We show the first spatially resolved spectroscopy of the disk. As distance from the star increases, the continuum flux from the disk shifts to longer wavelengths. In the 8--13 μ m window, the silicate emission arises mainly in an unresolved region very close to the star.
