Space-time distributions of field-aligned currents were projected from ionospheric heights into the equatorial plane of the magnetosphere and into the cross section of the magnetotail. Distributions of field-aligned currents are obtained for different conditions in the interplanetary medium. It is noted that currents from the magnetosphere are closed by ionospheric Pedersen currents. When the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field is greater than 0, a completely new system of field-aligned currents appears in the magnetosphere; this system is projected onto the magnetopause and the high-latitude part of the mantle.
