Observational results are presented for eight variable stars of late classes - long-period and semiregular variables (U Ori, R Crt, S Crt, RT Vir, W Hya, RX Boo, U Her, R Aql) - in a line of the water molecule at 1.35 cm. The observations were carried out in 1980-1982 on the RT-22 radio telescope of the Radio-Astronomical Station of the P. N. Lebedev Physics Institute, USSR Academy of Sciences, at Pushchino. Considerable variability of all eight stars in the H2O line was noted. Bursts of maser emission were observed for W Hya, U Ori, R Crt, and R Aql. Drift in the radial velocity of the emission peaks in the H2O line profile was found in some of the stars. In many cases the structure of the profiles differed strongly from that observed earlier by other authors and varied markedly over the observation period. The importance of the data obtained for investigating the nature of the circumstellar gas-dust shells in which the maser radio arises is discussed.
