We compare the properties of 9 isolated elliptical galaxy candidates to those of more common cluster and group ellipticals, in order to characterize the relative roles which galaxy interaction and formation environment have played in the formation of these rare and unusual isolated systems. Six of these galaxies are separated by at least 2.5 Mpc from any other galaxy of known redshift having MV<-16.5, while the remaining 3 have nearest-neighbor separation distances exceeding 1 Mpc. In this study, a comparative analysis of surface brightness and color profiles is presented. The results of a search for fine structure associated with the galaxies are discussed.
