The authors have analysed coronal data obtained at Pic du Midi from 1944 to 1974, searching for the latitude variation of coronal activity. According to the results, the whole evolution of activity in the corona spreads over a time lapse of about 17 years in agreement with the recent work of Legrand and Simon (1981). Therefore there is increasing evidence that the duration of an activity cycle is much longer than the time interval between two consecutive cycles.
