We study the propagation of gravity waves in matter in the very large wavelength regime i.e., above the length scale of the background curvature, ˜ c/√ {Gp}. The case of a fluid in a thin slab configuration is considered in detail. It is shown that helicity-1 waves of the gravitational field exist and interact strongly with matter inducing a shear motion in the fluid.
