Power-law radius and density distribution functions for intergalactic clouds are calculated from statistical data on high-redshift Lyman-alpha absorption toward quasars by convolution with theoretical absorption-profile models, as proposed by Sherman (1984). Expressions are derived for arbitrary values of optical thickness, temperature, and expansion velocity, and the best fit to the observations is obtained at cloud radius 3 kpc or greater and density 0.003/cu cm or more at z = 2. It is considered unlikely that the line broadening seen in the observations can be attributed to the expansion of intergalactic clouds.
