The Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) program, funded by the NSF, brings teachers into research environments to interact with scientists and translate the experience into the classroom. We will describe an RET experience at the MIT Haystack Observatory which involved the building and calibration of a Small Radio Telescope (SRT). The telescope was then taken to a technical high school where students from several departments, including the electronics, computer science and science departments became involved in building, calibrating and using the telescope. The results of the classroom experience will be discussed.
