The proposition that molecular clouds are dissipating systems containing large numbers of comets bearing a memory of recent galactocentric explosions is discussed. A super-dense state is not demanded, since the precursor state of the star-forming material in a galaxy is possibly a compact disk drawn from the central few hundred parsecs of the galaxy in which the redistribution of angular momentum produces the escape of spiral arms. The growth of a central disk is accompanied by a rapidly evolving central supermassive star. Explosive debris from such bodies may leave an imprint on cometary condensations as they form in the nuclear disk. This contamination could explain excess Li observed in the weakly processed material of meteorites, and young stars account for the sequence of nearby stellar explosions prior to Solar System formation, inferred from meteorites.
