The current understanding of the behavior of interstellar atoms in the solar system is reviewed. The motion of neutral hydrogen and helium atoms of interstellar origin near the sun is examined according to the cold and hot models of the local interstellar medium. The measurement of the characteristics of the interstellar medium in the vicinity of the sun is considered, and a theoretical scheme for the interaction of the solar wind with incoming neutral atoms of the interstellar medium is proposed. Future tasks pertaining to the study of interstellar atoms in the solar system are outlined.
