The authors have discovered a strong Na I D absorption line in the spectrum of the QSO PKS 1327-206 (ze = 1.1696) at a redshift za = 0.0180, very similar to that of the galaxy MCG 03-34-085 which lies 38 arcsec away in the plane of the sky. The lower limit on the column density of the Na I D absorption is 7.4×1012cm-2. Such an unusually large column density may imply an extinction of E(B-V) = 0.18(+0.04, -0.03). Only an upper limit of 0.7 Å is given for the Ca II K line leading to a low Ca II/Na I ratio. From this ratio and the inclination of 62° of the galaxy one can argue that the absorption lines are produced in the outer disc at a distance of 21.0 h0-1kpc from the nucleus, although a contribution from the outer halo cannot be ruled out. It is shown that the galaxy itself is gaseous at least in its nucleus since its spectrum presents emission lines typical of a Liner.
