New CCD spectra of the planetary nebula NGC 7009 are presented, comparing the measured line intensities with those obtained by Cryzak and Aller (1979). The observed spectrum is modelled using the predictions of Case B recombination theory, showing that a good fit to the observed continuum and line strengths can be produced. An independent estimate of the temperature along the minor axis of the bright ring of the nebula is obtained.
