The SB0 galaxy NGC 1023, one of the nearest neutral hydrogen-rich lenticular galaxies, has been observed with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope. The observations and reductions are briefly addressed, including lists of the galaxy's optical and radio parameters and of the Westerbork observational parameters. The H I distribution and velocity structure for the gas surrounding NGC 1023, the galactic 'tail', the east companion, and the nearby dwarfs are depicted and described. The possibility that the gas in the region of the galaxy originated in a tidal encounter is considered.
