A numerical experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of wave disturbances with a horizontal scale of about 100 km on signal reflection characteristics (e.g., arrival angle and group delay time) as a function of operating frequency for conditions of the vertical sounding of the ionosphere. Calculations are performed using the method of characteristics for a three-dimensional inhomogeneous magnetoactive ionosphere. Results show that scattering reflections can occur in the F-region due to the large-scale inhomogeneous structure.
