The photochemistry of the D-region during the artificial injection of hydrogen and water is studied on the basis of the complex multicomponent model of Kozlov et al. (1982) which takes into account 13 charged particles and 15 neutral and excited trace constituents. Particular attention is given to the significant long-duration variations of electron density as well as to the concentrations of oxygen and hydrogen trace constituents. In particular it is shown that electron density decreases at all D-region heights with the injection of H2O.
