A comparative analysis of the spectra of dwarf stars and a sunspot is made. It is shown that the spectral class of a sunspot depends on the index used: A sunspot has the class M0 based on the continuous spectrum, about K5 based on weak lines, and G8-K0 based on strong lines. From this it follows that the atmosphere of a sunspot cannot be likened to the average standard atmosphere of a star of any spectral class. This may be connected with the specific role of magnetic fields, the inhomogeneous structure of the atmospehre, horizontal energy transfer in a sunspot, and the force of gravity, which is different from that of a star with the same effective temperature.
