Near-infrared measurements have been obtained for 40 galaxies and eight quasars drawn from the complete sample of mJy radio sources in the Leiden-Berkeley Deep Survey (LBDS). Optical and infrared measurements are combined and the observations are compared with galactic evolution models using mainly the models constructed by Bruzual (1981, 1983). It is concluded that the mJy LBDS radio galaxies, the strong 3CR radio galaxies, and the optically selected field galaxies cannot be distinguished by their infrared and optical-infrared colors. The colors are independent of the radio flux and radio power of the galaxies and are probably due to their stellar populations. The LBDS sample does not show evidence for a significant population of very red galaxies. The colors of about two-thirds of the LBDS galaxies can be reproduced by nonevolving or mildly evolving luminous giant elliptical galaxies; the remaining third are bluer than elliptical galaxy models.
