The law of the brightness distribution over the lunar disk is discussed on the basis of the fundamental catalog of optical characteristics of the selected regions of the lunar surface and the indicatometric measurements of various lunar samples. Decrease of brightness with the increase of photometric latitude is faster for larger phase angles. This effect is more pronounced for continents than for seas. Such behavior is due to the mesorelief. Brightness distributions as the functions of photometric latitude and longitude are presented for some phase angles.
