For an astronomical satellite designed to explore cosmic gamma ray, in the range 1 to 20 MeV, the implementation of either spin axis stabilization or three axis stabilization using pure jet control torquing was investigated. A configuration model of the satellite was developed to show dynamic conditions and the influence of the disturbing torques. The performance parameters of the subsystems were computed. The costs of both attitude control systems were compared by means of cost factors. It is proposed to apply spin stabilization to the astronomical satellite.
