A generalization of the Dirac equation is used to study the behavior of an electron in gravitational and electromagnetic fields. A pattern is developed which describes an atom in the Schwarzschild and Robertson-Walker fields. The induced phenomena and their orders of magnitude are outlined. Conclusions are drawn concerning the ability of observing black holes and gravitational collapse.
